It's that time of year when our hearts and minds turn to giving to others. Here at Island Blu Soap, we strongly believe in giving back. Some of our favorite causes are Villalobos Rescue Center, 4Ocean, Love for Love City and the Always Keep Fighting Campaign.
But today I want to talk about the Kentucky ALS Chapter. As many of you may know, my husband Bryan was diagnosed with ALS a few years ago, and has rapidly declined on us. This diagnosis has had a devestating impact on our lives. As he has progressed through this monster disease we have seen a once very stong 300lb man dwindle away and lose the use of his limbs, ability to eat by mouth and voice.
I have had to add my full time caregiver hat to those of Mommy & business owner. It's been a rough ride. It has effected not only our home life but our business life as well. What was once a small hobby has now become our sole means of support. Needless to say life has become very hectic and stressful.
During this time we have come to lean on the KY ALS Chapter for support. They are constantly in the trenches directly effecting the lives of families having to live with this terminal disease and are still there for us after the loss of our loved ones. They do everything from loaning necessary but very expensive equipment to offering emotional support to caregivers.
So it would mean a lot to all of us here at Island Blu Soap, for you to take a look around the KY ALS Chapter's website and if you feel it in your heart this holiday season, to contribute in some small way. Every little bit helps. Maybe for you that is donating your time, or participating in a walk a thon. Nothing is ever too small to make a huge impact, to a family suffering with ALS.
